yeah no doubt if you guys brought in kobe or shaq it would be an entirely different game. but the same goes for us. we have players who went to your country, got rich and could give a rats ass about playing for the national team. guys like stojakovic

1. The rest of the world caught up with the US.

2. NBA rules are vastly different from International rules. NBA is still more of a 1-1 game (less so than in previous years) while International Rules is more of a team oriented game, like US College Basketball. Having said that, the good old US of A will still get their asses kicked.

3. The NBA was on life support in the late 70s (like the NHL is today) until Magic and Bird saved the league.

But anyway, it's not unheard of for a country who invented a sport to start sucking at it eventually. The same has happened to England in proper football. Now the US can't win any basketball tournament they play in and it's kinda funny.

the only reason why I stated that is because the NHL isn't televising their weekly games on a real network (instead on that versus crap)

i still follow the game, but just been subjected to box scores since work has taken up a lot of my time lately

the NHL has never been big on US television though and it never will. You aren't ever going to convince Joe Hick from Tennessee that a winter sport is more exciting than college basketball and (shudder) CAR RACING. I don't know why the League continues to ignore the true markets. Do you know that well over 1/3 of the NHL's revenue comes from the 6 Canadian teams? That doesn't quite add up, yet Bettman would rather force hockey down a southerner's throat than give Canada another team.

But about Italy...they really need to get their act together. England hardly has any problems anymore. Follow that example...it really isn't that hard.
