Made it in 1 piece. Left really late, which meant lots of driving in the dark (something I used to do regularly, but something I'm not so comfortable with anymore since the moose incident). Too many stretches of road with no street lights = nerve racking stress. Had a near miss with a fox. Stupid me swerved to avoid it too. Must learn just to hit the damn things, cuz insurance will nail u if u wreck.
Thanks to John Tang referring me to a helpful home security store in Pacific Mall to unlock my Rogers phone, I was able to get service w/Cingular down here. If anyone needs to reach me, my new cell number is 202-406-0975. I think i can receive texts from Canada without a fee, but I know responding will be $0.20/text. I opted for the global calling package which will keep costs down. I still have to pay my 10 cents/min + the long distance. get this- calls to the UK are 6 cents/min, Israel 9 cents, Canada....19 CENTS/min!!!! Canada must have some SERIOUS surcharges! So for 29 cents/min, don't expect to hear from me much- you guys can call me. Hopefully my friend's home line has a good long distance plan. I'm sure I'll have to resort to calling cards at this rate.
Still haven't even made it to the place I'll be calling 'home', as my friend has been busy, but tomorrow eve I'll get there and do my 1st bit of grocery shopping. Will most likely be getting a job at my uncle's printing shop, so that stress is relieved. Will still be looking for freelance photo work or another part time job if possible.
Went out w/friends to the pet store tonight and while in there, a customer turned to me and recognized me from University of Maryland in '89!!! He even remembered my first name, which is nuts. You can't take me anywhere....
Miss you all already. Be well.
