Don't you weigh like 100 pounds? Don't get a bike you'd look ridiculous.

Not sure what year but a 600 ninja might be a bit much to learn on.
Take your first year easy. Be humble. Its not hard to get overconfident and put it down. Ill bet you think riding in the middle of the road is good...its not. Get an SV, its a strong bike thats forgiving.

Save the pantydroppers for next year.

rofl do NOT get the ninja. you are asking for trouble. you are a new rider. you will kill yourself on that bike. its too much power. and that bike is touchy. as suggested earlier get the SV or an EX500. they are solid bikes that are easy to learn on.

yeah there isnt. but the real question is do you value your life. if so then get one of the two suggested. they are very road worthy, have power, are good starter bikes and arent too expensive.

Selection?! Its not a fashion show...you need to learn first then you can worry about looks/speed. Start smart or we will end up with a memorial thread. Take the class and get a starter bike. Those pantydroppers are very sensitive to overreactions. You will end up in oncoming traffic. Do some homework I spent over a year researching before even being ready. Get the two starter bikes mentioned and you will live to thank us.

Spend the first year taking it easy. You're looking at cosmetics over function. SV's are a strong V twin. I know plenty of riders that havent even riden a liter bike. They are happy to ride on the smaller cc bikes...when I say smaller doesnt mean inferior. Its all about the ride. You really need to do some research on this.

well, ok... when i say theres not much selection, i mean there is very little selection.

so far my options are:

600cc ninja

stuff on this page

but ill keep my eyes/ears open for next couple of months and visit a few dealerships to see whats going on in the biking community.

you really think 600cc ninja will blow my pants off?
