I don't regret liking anything from the past. How can u get to where u'll be tomorrow if u didn't do what you did today?? what i'm saying is that yeah sure sash is cheesy shyte but he and JX (red jerry) was my first introduction to electronic style music. So maybe if sash never existed nor did alice deejay etc then i wouldn't like the music that i do today (gatecrasher etc).

I mean when it first came out, i thought that sash - stay was one of the tranciest, most credible songs i have ever heard! and maybe if i hadn't bought cheesy dance compilations then i would never have bought a euphoria album or then a gatecrasher album!

I'm sure you all agree with me that you don't just wake up one day and find urself liking progressive...you'd have to appreciate dance music generally first. Music tastes develop and grow over time!

Well thats what I was trying to make clear!
I also started listening to this, but then I discovered Tiesto, pvd, oaky and...
then I discovered progressive and now I love it all.
And therefore im not ashamed to say I liked Ian van Dahl.

I like what I like...no need to be ashamed...

I like house, I like euro dance, hell I even like some shit by N'Sync. Its all music it all gets me hype, it all comes out at 120dbs on my woofers...its all good.

Peace!

Taste in music does not make someone superior or inferior so this really is a pointless thread...

I think someone needs to relax a little dont u
this is something ive noticed a lot recently actually, this mentality of "oh-this-isnt-deep-and-meaningful-or-in-direct-relation-to-tiesto-or-ferry-so-its-just-gay!" with regards to threads. personally i like threads like these, the offer a bit of variety to "oh did u hear Southern sun!" remember trance is about everyone dancing to the same beat, we dont need elitism. torontotrance is a big offender here, dont get me wrong, he seens a top bloke, and has great taste in music, but seriously needs to relax a little! not everyone is as mature and sensible as u bud! and also taking the "moral high ground" like:
quote:
Why should I be ashamed liking those songs.
Im not gonna hate a track if people say its cheese, who gives a **

fair point, i agree, but again, chill out! remember its ok to feel embarressed about liking the songs as well as not caring wot everyone thinks!
and if u dont like threads just ignore them, why post in it and bump it back up the forum page, they'll go away eventually!
and as for being embaressed about songs, sure im ashamed of likeing van dahl, atb, ppk, but hey, these r the people who r getting exposure for dance music, getting more people hooked, so ill use that as my excuse. wot can i say, i still love some good cheddar!
so concludes my rant, hope i didnt ruffle too many feathers, but its something thats been bothering me for a while!
peace and love

I'm glad someone has pointed this out cos i really do agree, ppl seem to forget that this community is expanding constantly and gets new memebers everyday. So whilst it can annoy me when i see threads like 'the best top 10 vocal trance of all time', it also enlightens me to see so many ppl sharing a love for the same music i do. We were all 'baby tranceaddicts' at some point, some people seem to forget this!

i can tell you that only till about a month ago was i aware of the search facility. and it REALLY pisses me off to see this 'high and mighty attitude' that some people take. particularly when these 'annoying' threads were fuelled by good intentions.

Ppl like starfox(if it's not you then i apoligise mate)flameppl for these 'annoying' threads but i think it can equally be said that it is just annoying that when a person asks for some 'killer german trance albums' they are only told of.

Paul van Dyk - 45 RPM
Paul van Dyk - Seven Ways
Paul van Dyk - Out There and Back

We all know that Starfox is a PVD-head so would others just see that reply/thread as a waste of time. Personally, it doesn't annoy me too much i just laugh but if he was to then (not saying that u have, can't remember mate)slag off a new comer for making a thread about 'southern sun' then that makes him a total hypocrite.

It's like the guy above me ses, if it annoys u that much just ignore it don't reply to him in a derogatory manner. well i've ranted off enough now...

I'm not slaggin u personally off- any of u. Ur all cool and never have i known of such a cool place to hang out on the web, but just be more tolerant of others

props to you...

and yeah, this thread was started with all good inentions. i just wanted to see what type of music some people listen to that, maybe they might not be ashamed to listen to per se, but just find themselves surprized that they do. so my bad, i guess...could have reworded the question a lil better. no need to be trying to start shit over the internet now. haha
