Oh well more time to pratice

I like the advice about playing Benassi. The only problem is that I have trouble mixing into the his songs. Most of benassi has a funky baseline that isn't as regular as most house/electro. ( I guess I could always do a crossfade ) It's really popular at our school though. So I'm gonna try to open with a Benassi song.

Illusion is a good song but if you wanta fail-safe definately do satisfaction

I don't know if you're using CDs or what

but i were you...

I would make an intro edit of Satisfaction and loop that first hard beat, the loop that is, for a long time and then add in the acapella, "push me", like an apparent buildup but release it into another track besides satisfaction.

Play this loop as an intro track really loud and you will get everyone's attention. Then mix into another track and you will have them wondering what the hell is going on but still waiting for the drop, then after one or two tracks mix into satisfaction in a really dramatic way, like let them hear the monotone vocals building up, then filter it over 8 beats at the end of the phrase before the drop and then just slam it all in. You'll have them snorting milk out of their noses

if you have to play Benassi you might want to play the dub mix of Faithless - Bombs, or Turn Me Up. I played Turn Me Up when I got a gig at a frat house once and I swear it almost cost me my setup people started jumping around with their drinks so much

House of Pain - Jump Around (Micky Slim RMX 2007)

I can remember when the crappy DJ played this at my middle school dance; everyone was jumping!

I am doing a high school gig on march 10th, the promoter told me I need variety, although I do spin 80's funky house remixes, whatelse should be in there? Please let me know

High school gigs you usually need to be playing Top 40 especially if you're getting paid. They aren't there to be educated and most of them aren't mature enough to open their minds to something they aren't familiar and comfortable with at that age.

Not sure if everyone would agree with me here, but my senior year I was able to get a lot of people listening to trance by pawning it off as techno (really just ignoring when people called it techno) and explaining to them what to listen for instead of just focusing on the beat 24/7. With that in mind, I made my selling points by being a little energetic (think the dancing guy from Jackass meats the guys from night at the Roxbury) and with these songs:

Armin van Buuren - Zocalo (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)

Gabriel & Dresden - Tracking Treasure Down (ft. Molly)

and a strange mash up of Marco V's False Light and Way Out West's Killa.

Of course, it might be a little late to add all these in, but just food for thought.

dance remixes of anything top 40. period. maybe the occasional non-top 40 remix... but as a highschool senior... unless your school is very in-tune with electronic music, or just open to everything (most highschoolers... not at all).. youre gonna have a hard time w/ anything they're unfamiliar with thats trancey or housey.

my estimated reaction if they dont know what youre playing: "wtf is this. turn this techno shit off."

yeah. highschool kids suck.
