if i had the time and money to spare, i'd definitely get all SAC dvds. |
Dude, buy the boxsets. Both boxsets cost be 25 quid each from Amazon.co.uk, free shipping to Ireland.
25 quid being about the price of 2 mid price 2 dvds. So you get 14x 2 hour DVDs for the price of 4. I think thats a bargain and it beats buying them all separately which would cost about 10 times as much as just getting the boxset.
The 2nd GiG boxset just got released last month and the music in that is even more kickass than the music for the first series. I am literally in awe at the sound design and production team that worked on that series. Theres also alot more dance oriented tracks in the 2nd series.

They day I'd have to adjust the way I do music to suit others, and going away from what I want to do, is the day music dies for me. |
Also, heheh, as for not making music to suit others. I'd do it when I'm good enough to do commission work. I did it for 2 months with my watercolours many years ago (but I admit, I wasn't good enough then by far and I couldn't hack it. I'm still not good enough to make a consistant commission fee).
Artists throughout history have always made art for the consumption of other people and theres great skill in being able to do that. Many great portrait paintings were commissions including George Romney's 'Emma (Lady Hamilton)' and Vermeer's 'Girl With a Pearl Earring.'
Its a skill I haven't developed by a long shot but hopefully one day I'll get there but strike a balance. Keep one ear open for what other people like to listen to. Whilst keeping the other open for the stuff I do like to listen to and the stuff I want to write.
