I had a friend who was into art and shit in college and he would drag me to these parties FILLED with people like this guy you are talking about so I can totally sympathise. I'd be sitting there listening to a group of these fake ass art people talking and I'm wondering if they all recognize each others fakeness and its just some kind of code among them not to call each other out on it or what. The only way I could tolerate it was to be high or to drink heavily. Then they look at you funny because you are killing a Bombay and tonic every 5 minutes while they are nursing a glass of wine for 2 hours, and of course they know everything about that wine and how good it is and where it came from and how you have to let it breathe, etc.
