honestly, it was one of the worst movies i've seen in a long long time. last movie i saw that was actually worse? war of the worlds, although the 300 gives it a run for its money.
this movie had the most half-hearted plot i've seen, even for an action movie. there was no emotion fueling the action, and especially with leonidas' unexplainable scottish accent, every speech he gave seemed like he just saw braveheart and decided to go play william wallace with his friends
lol and don't even get me started on the sex scene at the beginning, that was without a doubt the most gratuitous, pointless, and fucking epic sex scene i've seen in a while, and that's not a good thing

so seriously, to the people who saw this and liked it, what did you see in it? i'm honestly baffled

Pretty much sounds like exactly what I'd expect - loads of people love it, but I guarantee I'd be bored to piss by the entire affair.

Thrilled I haven't wasted my time or money on this one.

The story of Leonidas and the 300 is one of histories best, but the more I hear bout this movie, the less I want to see it.

lol why, it might ruin history for you?

and seriously, the plot would have ruined it. If they started throwing in car crashes and a bank robbery and his wife was actually the persian queen and then al pacino is their dad and yet hes gay aND OMG The plots so TWISSSTYYYYY

that has nothing to do with the story. It wasnt written that way, it was dudes who are raised from birth to fight. Then they hear of an overwhelming force. Only 300 dudes who believed in the old way of you just fight. You dont think about it, you dont whine about it, you go to fight and win.

Why does there need to be a plot to fight for your homeland? That is the plot. Its implied.

after watching it you will get the feeling that they tried to stay accurate and succeeded in it more than other movies.

Its just weird. I dont think its wrong to not LIKE it, but claiming there are no appreciable qualities to this is out of control.

If you are into film, you really should be able to get more out of every one of them instead of being a negative nancy elitist about the platonic form of a perfect film and hating everything that deviates from it.

i'm not saying it derives from the form of a perfect film or anything
i'm simply saying that, in the course of watching, other than pretty visuals (most of which i'd already seen ad nauseum in the previews and commercials), there was really nothing that held my attention
it was honestly just boring and uninteresting to me, and especially after i'd heard everyone hyping it so much, it was an incredible letdown
i mean hell, as far as recent action movies go, in my opinion apocalypto was far far better

Anyone with a decent knowledge of history and half a shred of observational reasoning should have been able to deduce from the previews alone that 300 is a stylized, dramatized, comic book-esque movie based on a real event. If they are going to let historical inaccuracies ruin the movie for them, then why the fuck did they go see it in the first place? It's not going to be a fucking documentary. What were you expecting?
