i completely disagree.. he makes films with thorough research + knowledge thru personal experience and preference. Jackie Brown is probably the most underrated Tarantino flick out of the 4 hes fully wrote & directed.

once again, he chosed underappreciated actors and made them shine, pretty much put Pam Grier back on the map whom delivered a stellar performance, same goes with all the surrounding cast memebers.. samuel l as Ordell, how fucking cool was he in that ? pot smoking De Niro ? who gets popped later by Ordell, Michael Keaton tryin to nail Ordell, Robert Forster ? slutty Bridget Fonda who gets popped by De Niro in the parking lot..lol classic material if you ask me...

Kill Bill vol. 1 & 2, absolutely brilliant, his 4th film. its a film that combines his love for Japanese & Chinese Martial Arts/Samurai/Swordplay... pays huge tribute to the 70s flicks he grew up watching, even casts Sonny Chiba & Gordon Liu.. thats gangsta right there.. ridiculous amounts of blood, the double stare case in the brothel, the accuracy of Yakuza loyalty, traditional display of chinese kung fu by Pai Mei are all on point with no loose ends.

even has an animation sequence, black & white sequence and one of the most conscise display of dialog btwn woman & a man at the last part of vol. 2 when Bill & Beatrix finally meet.

did i mention RZA on the score ?

oh yeah and the upcoming tribute to exploitation era, Grindhouse, kept it real again by releasing it as a double feature with fake trailers in btwn them by Eli Roth & Rob Zombie and other[s]

Tarantino FTW, alright ?

his next shit, WWII flick with one of my fav. actors, Tim Roth.

I also agree on Borat. Many loved it. For me, it killed the magic of Borat segment in Ali G show. Plus it was... sad. - retarded and sad. maybe 1 or 2 funny moments. the rest were just wack. Like the Humvee sales guy scene was great. Few subway/street scenes were cool. the rest were idiotic. Oh, and church thing was awesome but he held back. I was expecting a lot more but I guess he wimped out. Thought he'd get religious fanatics backlash (that's my theory).

IMHO, Sacha should have continued with the show, have a nice and steady source of income for next few years. I guess he decided to get it in a one lump sum payment.

"The Cell" was like.... "bleh. whatever. when is it over?"

"equilibrium"... I tried watching it several times but was soooo bored and soooo disconnected from the "message" and theme, I just couldn't bear to finish watching it. Fell asleep on more than one occasion, while trying to watch it.

More to add to "DON'T WATCH":

"Hostage" - waste of Bruce Willis' acting. Same as the Cell - "who cares" plot, stupid storyline, bla bla bla. crap.

Along the same lines - "Murder by numbers".

I thought "Sin City" was COMPLETE AND UTTER CRAP. Don't care what you say about the series, cinematography, etc. It was utter sh!te.

Need I even mention "Basic Instinct 2" or "Grindhouse"? Who wants to bet that this movie will suck unlike anything that has sucked before?

-----

BTW, no one has said anything about "Smoking Aces" - the adds were all hype but the moment it came out, noone said a thing. No praise or bashing. Did anyone see it, is worth a rental?

Yet another +1 goes for you... damn. we should definitely swap our "fave" movie lists - seems like our tastes are quite similar.

BTW, Another great flick - Desperado. I thought it was great (besides the fact that you got to see maginficent Selma Hayek's rack). As much as I don't care for Banderas, this movie was made for him. I liked it A LOT. Espc. Steve Buscemi - LOL!!!! He's one underappreciated and tallented actor.

edit: I thought that Tarantino directed it.. however, he was just playing in it. Duhrrrrrr. Oh well, still good movie, liked the part where tarrantino gets shot.

its a Robert Rodriguez film, not Tarantino's he had a cameo in it and they are good freinds, but had nothing to do with the writing/directing.

he DID write Dusk Til Dawn which Rodriguez directed tho...
