Because as much as some of their tracks are "trancey" like "Dark & Long", they aren't known as "trance" producers.

They are, but like I said, not regarded as "classic trance artists" more like "classic electronic-music acts" or "bands" if you want to call them that. They are kind of like what Kraftwerk was. Pretty much inspired by them, and synth-pop/new wave and techno of course. "Dark & Long" was just played by a lot of trance DJs back in the day because it was hypnotic/trance-like, and certaintly a lot of their stuff is (like Orbital's music as well).
