I've always wondered, those clothes that big fashion designers make, do they actually SELL? Like I've seen a poncho that drags on the ground like a wedding gown, do people actually buy such things?
I don't get how these fashion icons make any money at all with designs like that. Are they just paid to design and the sales don't really matter or do they actually never make that many to sell to the public and it's only special order? |
Some of the haute coulture stuff sells, especially the fancy dresses and shit, however, the way far out shit like the stuff pictured above aren't actually made to sell. The real edgy stuff, the strange stuff, that's just made and put on the runway to draw attention to the lable and, to a lesser extent, introduce new design elements the designer is planning to use in their ready to wear line. Ultimately, the goal of the haute coulture is to build a brand and sell the ready to wear.
