The state that is, and has traditionally been, the most libretarian is Montana. The sparse population and rugged environment tends to breed people who are more self sufficient, and thus more libertarian in ideology as they have little day to day interaction with the government and don't see the government as being helpful or harmful to their lives in most cases.

No - if anything, Vegas is libertarian.

You can drink alcohol 24 hrs a day, have sex for money, gamble, etc. - all your personal freedoms are intact.

Can you do those things in Montana?

B: While you can do those things in Vegas, there are a ton of government regulations that oversee those industries in Vegas.

No, the idiot doesn't know. He wants to be different b/c he views the ENTIRE nation to be right winged.

I will say this as easy as possible. But he still wouldn't get it.

Libertarianism=self sufficient people. Who wouldn't need a government involved b/c they tend on doing things for themselves rather then relying on others.

libertarianism is the belief in absolute minimalist government, inalienable property rights & a belief that virtually everything should be organised around the free market.

socially, libertarians believe in no government control or regulation of activities that do not concern it. they believe in a "liberty" for an individual to make their own decision regarding most aspects of their lives. this means no laws outlawing things like drug use or prostitution.

socially, i think the libertarian viewpoint is pretty cool, but economically it has its severe drawbacks (imo).

Self-sufficiency, individualism. Very small government which does not dictate or interfere. As long as nobody is violated or harmed, people are free to pursue whatever lifestyles they wish. The idea that "if everyone just takes care of themselves, the whole community will prosper."

Agreed, which is why I think the libertarian "type" you have described sticks a little too closely to ideals rather than compromises with reality (ie monopolies need regulating). Although a libertarian would hate the way a monopoly would cripple a free market. Either way, libertarian philosophy gets somewhat complicated with economic abnormalities.
