"We weren´t trying to be glamorous," says Felix Da Housecat over the phone from his home in Chicago, just a slight hint of denial in his voice as he explains the inspiration for his latest record, Kittenz and Thee Glitz (Emperor Norton). "We were making fun of the glam life in a cheeky, cool kinda way — if that makes any sense!"
Felix Da Housecat and Kittenz and Thee Glitz paved the way for the Electroclash scene and landing Felix in the spotlight with rave reviews from press all across the world (Rolling Stone: “4 stars”, “One of the Ten Artists You Need To Know”; NY Times: “One of the most innovative records to come from an American DJ”; URB: “4 stars”; Mixer: “9 out 10”, “The Soundtrack for a sleek, cosmopolitan future”; and much, much more). In 2001 Kittenz and Thee Glitz won Muzik Magazine’s Dance Awards Album of the Year , and The NY Times’ #4 Record of the year.
In 2002 SPIN magazine heralded him as “Best DJ”, URB magazine selected him “Best Dance DJ, and Rolling Stone magazine’s Music Award 2002, Felix is a “Best Dance / DJ Artist” critics pic!
This year Felix got off to a good start with his GRAMMY nomination for his remix of the Rinocerose track “Lost Love”, and now he’s on his 2003 Summer Tour! Tonight is your chance to catch him as he stops by Washington, DC!
