yeh that the excuse 9999999 other people like you use. Its easy to say (insert style of edm) rocks when you have that many people to back you up. you like what you like...ok but dont you think its coincidence to only like something after 9999999 like it too in an open level. im not here to say what to like and not to like im just against treating music as a fashion sinse i believe it is something much deeper.
To be honest i was including myself in them brackets mainly becuase of the progressive shift and after. Nowadays everything has gone so genre specific and crazy I would not know what im listening to, i do believe its a wider range than some tag title would suggest though. You can never judge someones tastes until youve gone through their whole playlist in my opinion, whatever they appear to say on here with all these 'genres'.

this guys's got the idea. music isnt a runway. if its good than its good, if its not than forget it. styles of edm should only be emphasized for labeling purpouses in my opinion and to describe a track but no track should ever be judged simply by the style it falls into. Thats why i have no grudge and dont think i ever will against any style of edm (xcept euro and hardstyle) even thought i have my preferences. thats is just being close minded.

Even though I have largely moved on from trance, I still am into the older stuff, esp some of the older stuff i'm not as familiar with or stuff that wasn't super huge, whether it's remixes or artists or such. I still like music that I consider "trancey" even though it's technically not trance (it's more like melodic progressive house).
Haha I hate these threads but i'm bored so...

Why can't we just get a "the mega 'Trance is dead' thread" sticky on this page so that these threads can all get moved into there? Sort of like the "Vinyl vs CD" sticky in DJ Booth...
*points to sig, again*

I've been collecting trance since 1992. Been djing since 1994. I have become more picky in my trance but that still hasn't stopped me from finding and buying great vinyl in shops in Europe.

I never bash the music I was once into, but I certainly don't buy and listen to hardcore as I did when I was 12/13 for example.
I'm slightly different, I listen to all the music from my youth because it invigorates my mind with memories and that does include proper hardcore from the mid 90s, drum & bass, techno, trance, rock, anything. My biggest problem is how quickly some people seem to follow trends for the sake of it rather than having the will to discover for themselves. I always found myself growing up on different stuff to most people but I'm proud that I did it for myself and didn't just go for whatever was seen to be cool.

It just seems like most people think shifting means completely abandoning what you used to listen to instead of just broadening your tastes to other things.
