Clubs in NYC will always be closing. The numbers are dwindling all around the world wherever the club scene had been around for long enough. Now that the "E Honeymoon" had worn off, so has the novelty of going out clubbing for many people. Regardless, what I wrote is relative to the overall trend. NYC sucked for several years after 9/11. It's much better now. If you want to measure that by the number of clubs and patrons, how many clubs were around before 9/11? Probably about four or five big ones. Aside from those clubs, every bar/lounge had a jukebox playing rock and roll, hip-hop or top 40, not a DJ booth like they do now. Back then, if you wanted to hear EDM, you went to the big clubs cause that was all there was for dance music.
How many big clubs do we have today? About the same number. Only now you can hear EDM in smaller venues all over town. Sure, it may seem like there are significantly less people in the scene if you go to a big club. Clubs aren't as rammed as they used to be on every single weekend. However, people are just spread thin all over town in lounges and bars now listening to dance music. If you think I meant that the boat party itself is a reflection of the quality of nightlife around here, you completely missed my point, kid.
