I'm not arguing that some people are predisposed to addiction, but that shouldn't be used as an excuse to not work harder to stay clean/sober. That to me, is a copout. |
I was just giving you shit but yeah you can do anything as long as you truly want to. Addiction is a bitch to beat, like me when when I'm playing Street Fighter II, but its can be done.

This i will agree with. Once the person realizes that they have an addiction, it is their responsibility to deal with it accordingly. Addiction is not the addicts fault, but recovery is their respnsibility. I'm merely saying, you cannot blame someone for becoming addicted to something.

i'd also like to add that i do agree that no matter how addicted you become, you can STILL make a choice - whether you want to go to rehab and get clean or not. but i don't think that becoming an addict means that you automatically had some underlying problems. it can happen to anyone. |
Yes, however most people wouldn't put themselves in the position to become addicted in the first place. I understand there are special circumstances like when someone just had surgery and was prescribed pain meds. The person unwittingly ends up getting addicted to opiates and struggles with that addiction for the rest of their life. Thats why you have to do research beforehand and figure out what sort of pain meds you should be prescribed and talk to your doctor.
