Pretty nice. I guess all the immigrants want to see some quality footy cheering for their homeland

Watching Korea was like watching Brazil play. Because of their smaller size, they use quickness and technical adeptness to create chances and throughballs and long balls were too much for US defence to handle at times and only US keeper and the crossbar prevented a Korean win.
Was very impressed with the play, the hustle of Koreans the most.

The entire Korean team needs a frigging haircut though. They all want to look like Liu Kang or something

Argentina vs Czech Republic next.

i was flipping thru the channels, and landed on a channel called Country Canada (wtf?)... the game was on, very exciting, Korea was on top most of the game!!

The FIFA website is broadcasting the entire tournament for free, with pretty good quality for an internet stream: http://www.fifa.com/u20worldcup/livecoverage.html

just got back from the game.. ouch that hurt.. Chile 3 - Canada 0

was fun sitting right in the middle of the Chilean supporters section tho.. man i think there were more Chilean supporters there than Canadian ones.. either that or they were a lot louder.

Definitely gonna take some time for soccer to truly become a national sport here with a history of song and rhyme

lol. did you expect anything different in terms of crowds?

there's a reason why canadian national team doesn't play home games in big cities anymore. it's more of an away game than a home game b/c immigrants cheer for their homeland more than canada

i didn't actually.. but i'll agree that the BMO felt more like a Chilean national ground than it did a Canadian one. i think this has been the case for virtually every international sporting event held in this city. the away crowd always gets more support unless it's hockey.

the one thing i'll say tho is that i can understand immigrants cheering for their home country, but albeit that many of those "Chilean" supporters were born in Canada. but let's not open that debate up again...

I don't think I'll be watching anymore games while Copa America is still going on. I've watched maybe 2.5 games so far from the U-20s, and really nothing has stood out for me. Kind of shocking in a way because the U-21 European Championship was pretty good, but I dunno, I haven't seen any quality young-ins do their thing.

Which is fine, cause I put on Brazil vs. Chile yesterday, and WOW, it was a great game. Couple that with Argentina's mauling of the U.S., and a bunch of other South American team performing better than usual (e.g. Venezuela), and you wonder why there isn't more coverage of it, let's say compared to the European Championships. Either way, another summer of great soccer unfolds.

Well it's an unfair comparison really. The Copa America is at it's highest level since probably 1999 as the pressure from CONMEBOL to bring the 'A' teams from each country was very high, was also the reason why they delayed it a year. Having said that, it has much more experienced players that are playing at the biggest clubs in the world as the U-20's are in the process of one day being at a Copa America level. That's not to say that the U-20 kids are good for nothing; the majority are playing at First Division teams (even some kids from Zambia for example are at big French, English clubs) and getting playing time.

On the subject of the Copa America, I am very interested to see how Paraguay will progress, they stand out as a realistic dark horse. They have some new blood in their team to replace a couple of certified geezers (Acuna, Gammara, Toledo etc). They are very well disciplined in defense, maybe the most in South America and have the patience to win a 1-0 game. I hope this post is not their jinx lol.

I was at the game yesterday, too. It was probably a 60/40 split for Chilean fans. But that is always the case when Canada plays in Toronto. That's why they have most of their national games out west. Dare I say less multicultural out there.

I was just disappointed because it was Canada Day and all I heard was, CHI-CHI-CHI,LE-LE-LE!
