We're living in a global community now. I think it's a great idea to look at what's happening inside and outside of our own nations and offer help where we feel it's most needed.

I'd imagine a bit of my yearly taxes go toward federal social security, rent and educational assistance there as it is. Does the company you work for provide any organizations? You should look into it. We have "team [insert company name]" at our work which provides opportunities to volunteer. It has a whole bunch of different options... environmental volunteering, children, sick people, etc etc. It's actually a really great feeling once you get into it. I never realized how much I like volunteering until I got into it earlier this year.

We've just got back from a monthly fundraiser for the county air ambulance who get by totally on donations & do a very important job. It's Prize Bingo but they make a lot in proceeds from raffling off donations and so forth, that it does a lot for them. I also support an animal charity, the RSPCA
