The way I see it is, you're consciously inviting drama into your life by keeping this loser as a friend...and he sounds like a loser even without having stole the money. So either you like the drama and he's your friend, or you value honesty, integrity, and decency, and tell this fuck to hit the road.

Yeah maybe, but its much easier to say than do. A few years ago I had to cut a bunch of friends out of my life, people I had known for 10+ years, because they had become so sketchy with drugs and shit. You might not like the drama but its not easy to just get rid of someone who you have been friends with a long time.
