Thanks to JooF for clearing up the problems with trance. Seem's he is crying again, what was his last public out cry?, his wright up on the dj mag. You could say what he said about any genre, over time things get cloudy and less quality comes, but there will always be good trance tunes, even if its one out of every 20 releases or so.

So what is his definition of good trance...that watered down americanized psy a la' chris lawrence etc...that joof likes to pound. I think any producer/dj should try his best to keep his opinions to himself, and try to get the point across with his music, rather than public political rants.

and ive always called svd, marco v jr. Taking a combo of progressive, techno, house and trance....and making music. He's made good tunes for sure, but i don't think he deserves humanitarian of the year.

But i can't understand why people bash Fleming for expressing his oppinion in public. Why should anyone keep his/hers oppinions to his/herself..? It's not some random spam made by some newcomer.

I would find it rather interesting to hear what other big-names has to say about the trance scene aswell!

Why? How do you voice an opinion with EDM?

Hippy ideals? Maybe, but the fact is unlike techno, drum & bass or house, trance creates a direct emotional response in the right environment.

You have to have some sort of emotional response in order to get up and dance, so I guess at Techno, DnB and House nights the crowd just sits on the floor with their legs crossed and stares into oblivion.

Ya that comment is just RETARDED

It would be quite easy just to lump my lot in as a devils advocate and completely disagree with what John's got to say, but he's got some good points in there as well which are worth considering. I think a lot of it stems from the DJ's frustration of having to hunt very high and low for good music, across a lot of 'genre' branding. That and to some degree the audience has become a lot more discerning over the last 10 years about what genre they will actually go and listen too at a show. The vast majority will simply turn up their nose at certain genres without giving it a second thought or goodness, forbid, a listen and it seems a bit of that has rubbed off on J00F.
And that's his prerogative regardless of what anyone else thinks, no one can make you like something if it really doesn't match what you like to listen too. Maybe it was simply the interview but it seems odd that a DJ would give a broad, tar and feather brushing to entire genres of electronic music.
