over the last week or so I been reflecting on a lot of my last 10 years or so out here in the bay area.. tonight I was going through some old photos to use for the video and came across a friend of mine I havent seen in a while who passed away.... He overdosed in 97...
He would sometimes recite this coming home from a good rave... party or whatever.. he didnt say it all the time.. just sometimes when we had a good party or great gathering amongst friends and stuff.
O ya... Expecially when I played adagio for strings on the way home.. Its the end credits to platoon. I kinda remebered some it..He said he always referenced the "war" in comparison to the rave.. Kinda fitting since my b-day is comin up... So I thought Id share it here..
"I think now, looking back.. we did not fight the enemy.. we fought ourselves,... and the enemy was in us...
The war is over for me now, but it will always be there for me, for the rest of my days...
As im sure alias will be, fighting with barnes for what Roc called "possession of my soul"
There are times since, I felt like a child... born of those two fathers..
but be that as it may...
Those of us who did make it. have a obligation to build again...to teach to others what we know...and to try with whats left of our lives, to find a goodness and meaning to this life..
Charlie Sheen A.K.A. Chris Taylor from Platoon...
