smakmagik, if you would sit down, and try to understand the whole point of American football, then you would see that it takes the basics of rugby style, but with a little twist of some additional rules and regulations away from traditional rugby.
In American football, it's not just about speed and strength. It's also about the mind. There is a reason why the New England Patriots won 3 Super Bowls in this decade. They clearly didn't have the strongest or fastest team in the league. Their quarterback doesn't have the strongest arm. However, how did they win all those trophies? The coach is probably one of the best NFL head coaches in the past 30 years. He knows how to play the mind games, and pull out the right plays when it is needed.
No disrespect against rugby, because I think it's a real powerful sport, but you cannot say that rugby is far superior than American football.

Every single sport has its advantages and nuances that make a certain section of people like/follow it. Someone here said they dont follow baseball, but I'm sure a baseball fan could formulate a very similar reply to the one you posted in baseball's favour. It's just that I dont find it interesting nor entertaining nor a reason to spend my time on. Just my opinion as I said.
