I love that show, me and a co-worker were discussing wether we should take the job this month for a week or so as a one time deal. For the once in a lifetime experience and the big pay off. I've heard that the chances of dying are very high and that's whats holding us back at the moment.

trust me it's awesome

I once did that with some "Discovering Psychology" videos, but I was listening to drum'n'bass.

I was kinda dissapointed to find out that some of the footage on Planet Earth were from stock or CG.
Still the best piece of television I've seen in a while.

How much and what shots?

I have a really hard time believing there is all that much of that in there.

I like the planet earth series alot but I dunno why everyone says its so groundbreaking. I've been watching shows just like it on Discovery for years, its more like a nice compilation of footage.

And what really pisses me off is when they talked about polar bears there was virtually no mention that most of their habitat is going to melt because of climate change.

In the U.S. version there was literally TONS of talk about their habitat being destroyed - it was almost all they talked about.

They barely mention it in the BBC version - the Discovery version was WAY more political.

And as far as why people think it's groundbreaking - at least once in almost every episode an animal or phenomenon that has never once been caught on film is shown. Not to mention the quality of the film has pretty much never before been seen in a nature documentary.

That's pretty damn groundbreaking to me.

I guess I just remember those Discovery shows differently. Also, I watched a ripped version which was lesser quality. I loved the birds from Papa New Guinea.

I dunno if I watched the BBC version or the US version, but I dont remember it being political. It was anoying me to say the least. I kept pointing it out till everyone in the room was like "Clovis, STFU"

I had no idea that this Planet Earth documentary existed, so thanks for the heads up. I will have to pick this up on DVD just as soon as I can. This is what happens when you have: no satellite or cable and only one local channel.

The version that aired on the Discovery Channel with Sigourney Weaver narrating was the one with loads of political stuff. At times it could almost be irritating and overkill.

The version from the BBC with David Attenborough has far less of that, but it's far, far more enjoyable to watch. Like light years better.
