I use a western Digital portable 160 gig hard drive, about the size of a deck of cards, on my Powerbook and my t60p. It goes back and forth no problem, and I am able to store files of both types on there with no issues either. Thumbdrives will be the same way.

I wish I had a mac book pro, a bunch of programmers from my school are picking them up now for personal use after they spent years bashing the Macintosh platform. They are really one of the best all around laptops out there now.

*OpenOffice for word processing

Firefox runs on a Mac. Safari is a pos.

True, I forgot about that. But I always like to make sure I have a back up in case something happens to either the schools/my own computer. So having it on a CD is a good idea, but just to print something out...sending it to yourself is better. I've only lived a few minutes from all the schools I've been to so I don't really have to worry about that.

Let's see...how can I explain it clearly so that you'll understand....well....hmmm.....a mac is a lot like a 20 something year old yuppie who goes to a local town college and binge drinks on the weekends....no wait...hold on...a PC is a lot like a white collar businessman in a suit who....

...ah to hell with it. Just buy yourself a gold plated vibrator.

man sometimes i do wish students would find out if universities gave out free web publishing accounts if registered as a student. i remember when i was in college, i had a regular college and cs web accounts, so i had a WHOOPING 200 mb of space to store my data (/sarcasm). the days before thumbdrives. i loved to ftp my stuff from home to school all the time. i would mention ftp to my non-cs classmates, but they looked at me weird.
