Its ok, i don't always think quick transitions are a bad thing all of the time. If you ever notice in clubs, it can actually sound worse than a train wreck when it is done improperly. As long as the beat stays in sync i think it can work. I hate the misconception that everyone should do these long transitions. I would much rather see variety and creativeness in every one than the same one over and over. The math is important but creativity is more so imo. I've been getting ballsier in this respect and have even been experimenting with transitioning during the "meat" of a vocal track. If you find the right song it works and just adds more depth to a set. It wasn't a bad transition..and only playing tracks that are similar can lead to boring sets. Play your style. Similar is why i hate Chus and Ceballos or mixed in key software.

ps..don't worry about the productions and fitting them into your sets. The stuff i produce and what I play are 2 very different animals. I don't play tribal, but that won't stop me to asttempt to make some if a certain idea hits me. Some dj's only play their productions, and imo that is not what dj'ing is about. (not talking about you here). If a track is good, others will play and promote it.

Beautiful mix. Subtle, but solid. You can tell a lot of attention went into it.

I just went through the second listen.

haha I've been collecting for 2 more mixes actually. Sort of a 2 cd deal.

the initial basic idea is clear/light and cloudy/dark. still relatively deep but more techno this time around

Thanks, I'm really glad you liked it. A lot of attention went into the tracklist, but it was recorded all in one go

I've always found that my best sets come out that way. The ones you record a few times never have the spontaneous sparkle of one that works the first time.

I ordered some new records for the first time in months; this mix inspires me to get back in the habit.

I've returned to this mix a few times, often late at night.

Really, this would be a respectable mix CD release.

Well, it's still a relatively young, warm night over here in the Bay Area, so I'm taking a little night-time scenic drive with this set as my accompanying soundtrack (once it finishes downloading).

First time listening, and on that note, this will amount to my first prolonged exposure to Deep House on both a set and individual track basis. Hoping this will set a good precedent in that respect (and judging from the remarks, I imagine it will).

I'll post some feedback upon my listening/re-listening.

Thanks for listening

comments appreciated

It's funny because I still like this mix a lot, but even though it's called "Depth" it's actually not as 'deep' as it could be. I can recommend a lot of sets to you if you are really interested in deep house.

it's one of the only mixes i've done where i wasn't focusing on my own emotions and self expression per se, but trying to anticipate the reaction of my girlfriend - what would make her smile, what would make her move, etc

I've been compiling for a 2 cd/160 minute mix that I will record hopefully soon which will demonstrate some of the deeper sounds that are out there.
