'The anthem' imo is ok, not great, not bad. But regardless to what everyone thinks on here it has become a huge and popular track. Prob for all the wrong reasons though.....

Armin - Yet another day is probably my favourite male track, thats a great example of how lyrics do influence the overall feel and compliment the track.

Regading why male vocal trance has become big, its like with anything - movies/games/books. its the in thing at the moment.
Ie. When a type of film does well at the cinema, lots of other films follow suit, mainly to cash in.
I'm trying to put my finger on what the big male vocal track which started this is though..

No, no it's not. And it isn't a matter of opinion.

Indeed, we had some male vocals before, but this year a lot.
Tiesto - In the dark (not a good song) may have lit the fire, because everything Tiesto does has a big impact on the scene (wheter you like it or not).
I dont mind male-vocal, after years of female-domination this sounds 'fresh'.

The anthem just simply stands for everything trance isn't. Cheesy vocals, guitar riff after guitar riff, pointless brakedowns, over worked but boring percussion. As for alone tonight I see it as neatly done track with vocals that fit very well with the sound and the song just being as a whole more inspiring.

ahhh balls! Coldplay is a perfect example of music that you would call rock, but having a style bordering near to trance.

It's fair call that some people say that trance really started out as a fusion between house and rock.
