As for the topic: ketchup on bacon is ridiculous. You should never need to add ketchup to any meat unless it's bad quality or overcooked. The only exception I make is hot dogs, which aren't that great in quality to begin with (sausages are different - no ketchup on those).

I do like the maple smoked bacon/sausages. But I wouldn't actually toss maple syrup on them either.

It's bizarre the way some people slather ketchup on everything from grilled cheese to pasta to steak. I think it's actually because of the sugar content of mass-produced ketchup - some people still have the palates of 9-year-olds and won't eat anything unless it's sickly sweet.
