Don't take this thread personally dude. A lot of people start out in your position.

Most of the posters in this thread are just bitter, mostly because you're obviously playing live, while it's extremely apparent you haven't been djing long (at the very least with dance music). Many of the people on these forums have been at this much longer than you have and have a lot of trouble getting gigs due to the sheer volume of talented dj's, therefore the bitterness.

Right now you enjoy very commercial music, which does help you get gigs - enjoy it while it lasts, because very soon you will be very tired of that crap.

So, the moral of the story is, it's just the internets, don't worry about it.

You're also asking what to play, without any direction on what you want to play. This implies that you have no idea what you're doing, which again gets on people's nerves because you got a live gig. It would be different if you asked "i'm looking for more tracks like x track", or "I'm looking for tracks with a bassline like y track". Just asking "what's some good trance"....is gonna get you flamed.

There, now hopefully you understand the reasons the responses were as they were.

Those are three of my remixes

I just think DJ Tiesto is one of the best DJs out there, and i admire his work. That is all.

Also,

I wasnt going to go to a P2P and download every track that everyone listed. I wanted to hear some to get some ideas. Sorry i didnt post my original intentions before. I know getting ideas, isnt coming up with "something original" but its how i get started on a song.

Edit:

I didnt take that picture. Someone in my computer art class did, and then photo shopped the back ground.

Im glad you were clever enough to find my myspace.

i was never really trying to flame you here, but let me ask... are you asking to get ideas to MAKE music, or ideas to get music to MIX? two completely forums and you would have to go to the production forum for that case. the links you posted up there i'm assuming are tracks that you made?

That could be right for some people, but i think you are off base a bit. (ps can your sig get any bigger?;p) What gets me pissed off is not the gig aspect, but the " Omg i want to be a dj because its so cool and everyone else wants to be one." It has nothing to do with the music, the love for it, only the idea that if they get a cracked copy of ableton and the latest tracks from the 3 names that they know they can be the next superstar DJ.

1. The superstar Dj Era is dead.

2. If you want to make music, make it, don't copy other people that is even lamer than wanting to be a superstar. If you don't have your own ideas, don't make anything.

3.Gigging isn't everything. I just turned down 2 gigs because I don't want to play like they want. For some of us staying true to our sound is more important. Money isn't everything.

Interesting...ok, I remember I got that vibe too, but after a couple posts from him that went away. That annoys me too when I see it, but I really don't see that coming from this dude after he clarified. He's obviously just a young kid, he hasn't been exposed to much of this music yet. He also obviously just started djing this stuff recently, so he doesn't understand how broad it is. When I first started listening to this stuff, I thought there were very few songs to choose from, because that's the impression you get from the radio and from non-club dj'd events. He thinks he's got all of the "trance" songs, and he's seeing if there are any more that he doesn't have. I think his question just came out wrong in the beginning.

P.S. is my sig really that big? It's really small on my screen, and not any bigger than anyone else's, maybe you're running a low resolution?

No sympathy at all. If he didn't want abuse for asking a stupid question he should have used google. Why people rely on strangers for info on things that can easily obtained searching with any search engine is beyond me. He is lucky enough to have started liking this stuff in the computer age, so forgive me if his plight does not urge me to put on break up music and cry furiously while spooning my blow up Armin doll. ( And I know when he says hes making music, hes only taking elements from other tracks and mashing them together..that isn't making anything but me wanting to laugh more.I'm guessing Acid Pro or Cool Edit)

ps. it was big enough for you to make it normal sized wasn't it.
