When a rock band, let's say Linkin Park gives a concert they are performing live. When a solo artist/vocalist, let's say John Mayer gives a concert, and plays guitar, sings on stage he in fact is performing live. Then why the hell, when a DJ, who's "art" is mixing songs into one another, gets behind a booth and does this on the go without having any pre-recorded transitions isn't performing live? |
Because it's been for ages, that acts that have been promoted as "live" are really performing live and not mixing live. If you go by your definition, then everyone flyers for festivals would have to be announced as live, that would be like
Armin van Buuren (live)
Sono (live)
Northern Lite (live)
Carl Cox (live)
whereas Sono and Northern Lite would be the only 2 to really perform live. I hope you do know what the definition of performing live is
