i like how you think !

yes Dima, IMO PS3 = fail, i think we've had 27 of them sitting on a skid at my work for the past 3 months now...everyone wants a Wii or a DS, i rather have a shiny new pair of K2/Salomon Rollerblades *mouthwatering*

Then, I blew out the candle.

That's only true if the game had infinite replay value.

Lol, wow.

if you read, you're still reading (if you read fiction of any sort) about pretend worlds.

in a game you play in the pretend world (great interactivity, and thats what makes it so much fun. it is all visualized in awesome detail and richness, which is awesome!)

in a book you have to have the pretend world in your head, which isnt as glamourous.

theres so much hostility towards video game playing. i read books constantly and i dont even play video games and i cant believe how much shit certain ppl give other ppl for enjoying video games.

baffles me. dont see why one cant enjoy a mixture of all those things digital MP suggested, or just focus on one, if thats what he or she wants.

EDIT:

what if also you are playing the video game w/ friends... are you still considered "baracading urself inside" in a negative context?? because you are now effectively hanging out w/ your friends too. and would you use the term "baracading urself inside" (which does seem to me to carry a negative inference or tone) in reference to someone reading a novel by him or herself in a room??

video games are awesome, i don't see ever growing out of them... final fantasy 2 on snes basically taught me to read before anyone else my age ... and skipping school to play counter-strike at internet cafes through high school was fuckin intense... i'm sad i kind of lost interest in keeping up to date with systems these days though, my snes emulator keeps me satisfied though

i see the negative stigma fading in the recent future. the amount of adult gamers is obviously growing, just look at the new mountain dew drink, they don't target a market just because the makers of it personally think video games are cool. but to all the haters who would rather people go play ultimate frisbee or something instead, i just say "you do you, imma do me" :P

and that south park was classic.... k-10 the robot dog, and cocka-3 the robot bird haha

haha..I'll second that!

I have everything imaginable!

PS3, Xbox360, Wii, PSP, DS...whatever else there is lol. But i still go out (probably too often) and work all day long lol.

Video games is just one way to help me relax and take my mind off things. I don't play an obscene amount of games, maybe like an hour or two every other day which i think is reasonable.

PS. I live to play my dynasty game for game as well, so i'm going to restart the dynastny next wednesday. Just playing around and learning how to score all over again as it requires 'different' skill than last year.

He said literature, not fiction novels, regardless of what he meant, he didn't say it.

I never said that you had to be alone when playing this game, you could be with a bunch of friends playing the game for hours and hours, it's still the same thing to me. Obviously not every single person that has this game plays for hours and hours on end, but I can make a good assumption that people who wait in line for the game do this.

Also, reading a book, fiction or not fiction, is far better than playing a video game. Instead of the visuals being on a screen which you look at, when reading, you have to make up the visuals in your head from what you're reading. It requires more brain power to make up visuals in your head, than to just look at a picture on a screen. Reading is far better than playing a video game.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Who waited in line for Halo 3? a VIDEO game

Not necessarily. I think it all depends.

Alot of video games out there require a lot of problem solving and more than simple move from point A -> point B.

There are a lot of simulated Strategy games which require a lot of thinking and planning. Think of games like Command & Conquer, or World or Warcraft.

Even games like The Sims and Sim City require a lot of creativity.

I don't think you can make a state saying reading is far better than playing video games.
