"Chromophobia" is solid, but for me "Ex Machina" and "Soulstickers" are infinitely better.

Waiting anxiously to hear the new Underworld, but for now Aril's album is the clear frontrunner.

i havent heard all of the suggestions. but i heard soulstickers and ex machina, and chromophobia. its hard to beat chromophobia, it deserves all the attention and good things written about it by journalists. it has variety in the types of sounds used and the songs dont all sound the same. best of all, there is this underlying feeling of a story to the album, a journey type of vibe.

soulstickers, as an album, is not as good. im glad someone mentioned it because now i want to use some songs on that cd. the songs individually have more instant appeal, and are more dancefloor friendly, but if you were to put that cd on shuffle you might not notice. programming is an important aspect to the artistic aspect of an album, an album shouldn't be just a goodie bag of good tracks, it should tell a story.

and even worse is ex machine. snoozefest. all of the songs sound like one big synth chord track. put it on shuffle and you'd never know the difference.

no one has mentioned the chemical brothers - we are the night. push the button was a dissapointment and showed that they were slowly slipping into obscurity, but this album is a return to their roots. once again back to their seemingly perfect sequence of tracks. alot of them are not meant for the dancefloor, but thats a good thing in an album.

no one has mentioned frivolous. his album this year is my vote for the most overlooked/unnoticed album of 2007. http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/254867-01.htm

the samples on juno cut out the best parts of the tracks so you have to listen to the whole thing. especially so savvy, where this black girl talks about the current problem with the mentality of the dancefloor today. i cant say its better than chromophobia, but i think its damn close. he does his own vocals on some of his tracks, AND check this out: he makes his own electronic instruments out of kitchen knives, washtub basins, etc: http://youtube.com/watch?v=8lglpD5lRig

For me it has to be The Timewriter - Soulstickers. Just so much tasty candy all in one bag!

For me, the top 3 would probably look like:

LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
Apparat - Walls
Modeselektor - Happy Birthday

Honorable mentions to:
Gui Boratto - Chromophobia
Matthew Dear - Asa Bread
The Field - Here we go Sublime (It may sound like dated electonica, but its still well produced)

And outside the elctronic unverse:
MIA, Holy Fuck, and Arctic Monkeys releases
