It's all anyones guess but everyone has thier own opinion. I feel saddened that this has fallen over CL. I truly believe that he is not involved in this because 3 years ago we had once chatted about polls being hacked and how he feels that affects us as a whole in the scene. If you knew CL personally you would know how dedicated he is to giving us his best and working hard to push his style and music. Honestly,Why would CL need to cheat on the votes. His schedule runs all year round with over 200 bookings a year, even when he was ranked in the top 30's or 40's. If you dont know CL then you havent been in the scene long enough...

He plays the US on a constant basis as well as over the world. DJ Mags poll from the last 2 years have recieved more votes from the US and it's still climbing so that shows that American DJ's are making thier marks (minus those idiots who cheat with programs). As well, CL has never been a stranger to the scene and you cannot deny his sets are amazing each and everytime.

My opinion, I still believe CL's ranking would've stayed in the top 10 or the top 15 if his unprofessional marketing rep did not stoop that low to commit what he did.

I cant say the same for Dj Dan because i don't see him play.

My 2 cents.. I'm sick right now so forgive any bad grammer.

I support CL all the way!!

Very well said! And in the world we live in I'm sure there's a few crazy computer geeks who would really wanted to see CL and Dan up there.

Until DJ Mag has official proof of who did it, why take their names off this year's DJ Mag? Might as well not have this poll at all IMO.

Well, I guess Chris and Dan's gig prices just dropped for the next year or two!

There probably wouldn't have been an investigation had Dan not broke into the Top 10! I'm sure the people at DJ Mag were like, "WTF??? Who the hell is DJ Dan and how did he garner more votes than Sasha and John Digweed??? OK boys, we got some investgating to do!"

Too bad for CL. He's going to have this hanging around his neck for a while.

Sucks for CL. He is a great guy and i love his sets. He does have talent and many times when you see him live you do think he should be ranked at least in the top 10.

But even if it was the marketing manager (same person for both) the djs had to have known. Also Dan 5th place was total crap haha. I hates seeing Come See DJ Dan 5th in DJMAG tonight at the club... they do promote the shit out of djs for being on this list and thedjlist.coms list. I say in some cases look at the list in general to be familiar with new names and then listen to what theyve got and judge for yourself. But the lists do help in recognizing new djs in the lower end of the top 100 that you might not have hurd before and just sprung up.

Sounds like a lot of damage control to me. They got caught. Deal with it. These apologetic posts seem like talking points.

Unfortunately as ridiculous as this random internet poll is it seems to carry influence regarding marketing and rates. Why do you think most major dj's have links to the voting on their various websites?

I am sure many dj's over the years have engaged in the same behavior it's just that CL & Dan were singled out this year.

What is funny to me is when they announced the rankings last year to me both of CL & Dan's high ranking stuck out like a sore thumb. I assumed it was their marketing department pushing the "get out the vote" brigade. I was right. Just didn't think it would be done internal.

THANK YOU!!! Wise decision on Chris Lawrence's behalf to consult a lawyer cuz this could end the DJs careers. I don't bother with this biased Euro crap, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Dan on the top 10 last year.

I hope the artists are cleared of any wrong doing. I wanna see proof, I wanna see names and ISP's because if turned out to be a fan then they need to look at every single dj on the top 100. American DJ
s in the Euro top 10, How can that ever be? Conspiracy theory maybe, but 2 people's careers are on blast here. I want proof!

I picked this off dj mag's comments section for this article. Form your own opinions.

---------------------------------------------------------------
You shouldn't always believe what you read people...

First of all, this vote is NOT true to the public's word. I would like to share a couple instances with the public that ARE true. The publishers Lesley Wright and James Robertson should be the ones investigated.

1. After Tiesto won the 2004 DJ Mag poll and did not show up for the DJ Mag party to spin, Lesley Wright stated that "Tiesto will never be #1 in my poll again" . Hmmmm... I find that to be interesting. So who's really rigging the votes here?

2. It's also been confirmed that the same thing happened to Paul Van Dyk last year that happened to Dan and CL this year. But last year all the magazine did was get rid of the votes and give PVD a small slap on the hand. No naming and shaming???

3. One more thing, DJ Mag claims to have received 217,000 votes during the 2006 poll but more than one legitimate industry source has stated they got less than 70,000 unique votes. I'm not sure what the difference is between a "unique vote" or a "regular vote" but regardless something doesn't seem right.

I'm glad that the magazine is doing this because it's going to make the public question the validity of this poll. And then maybe people will start to make their own decisions on who their favorite dj is and not depend on some lame poll that is rigged by its publishers. If you all think your votes are what's determining the Top 100, you are all sadly mistaken. It's Lesley Wright, James Robertson, and their pathetic team of minions at DJ Mag.

I'm looking forward to hearing what DJ Dan and CL have to say about this because all we've heard so far is DJ Magazine's side of the story. Lastly, all I have to say is that kharma's a bitch DJ Mag and you're gonna get what you deserve.
