it is really a matter of preference, but that ^^ simply isnt true. vinyl does have a warmer sound and is easier to hear in a club imo (for uplifting trance at least).

and then you have the odd DJ that plays 192s in a club

but i like to distinguish my sounds as much as possible from the next guy. and there are so many

also, for me a good night out is a night of disorientation, losing yourself, and it is a hell of a lot easier to do this when you don´t know the tracks.

When I deejay I like to disorient the crowd, bring them into my dream world, introduce new things to them and keep people guessing what is going to happen, with the constant expectation of something better and better

i love the mystery of it all, and the separation from reality
as soon as i hear something i recognize, or worse, if it is something overplayed, i snap out of the separation

i love the mystery of records. Beautiful black discs that are like tablets, physically carved with a universal yet hidden language that can only be understood in the actual ritual of dropping the needle on it, the transmutation of a piece of plastic into something nearly magical that can make people scream, cry, jump, twist, jack, fuck, etc

first thing that came to mind when I read what you said nefardec. I agree with you though, when I'm playing, I feel a lot more into it, i guess you could say spiritualized when playing from a turntable.

This post was really helpful. I am deciding which route to go to and I was think along the same lines of cost and difficulty on where to find certain records on vinyl.

I dont regret going vinyl...but in 97 I didnt have a choice. Ive spent way too much on records to write them off. I am bringing in digital but I will mix both. I have a few tracks that are just too hard to find.

I know exactly what your saying, but, sometimes, when you are lost in good music that you dont know, when you suddenly hear a track you do, it can be amazing.

When surrounded by a load of stuff you dont recognise, good, but popular, tracks can sound soo much better.
