I totally agree with personal value. I can still listen to all of my tunes in my top 20 and be transported back to that time they were released. Some are quite special to me.
I still think there are some dam shit hot tunes in my to 20 though.....ie Stringz Unlimited is a very under rated tune in my opinion.

I think it's just that if the songs are older, they've had more time to "settle" and if people still like them, then it's easier for them to call them good and thus a favorite of their's.

For example a lot of people really liked that track "Heater" recently (not trance, I know) but give it 5 years and we'll see if people are still all over it. Chances are it's too catchy and people won't give a crap about it five years from now. If they still do, then people might start to call it a favorite. I.E. if a tune is fairly recent, it's too "young" to call a favorite.
