Re: Decks, mixers and headphones...

2 Decks + 1 Mixer + Headphones
Genre: Uplifting/Progressive/Tech Trance.
Price doesn't matter |
You need to do a search on DJ Booth forum. You can probably read up for days on CDJs if you want opinions
same with headphones. be sure to check out the huge headphones thread.

if money all of a sudden becomes an issue, for a home setup i rekon u cant go past 2 cdj200's or 800's and a djm400 mixer
pioneer ftw! |
xone ftw. (well, not xone 32)
I guess it depends on what you want on a mixer. I'm happy with 4band eq, best possible filters, excellent sound quality. (though not much of an issue if you're playing only at home)

I would agree but add a numark DXM09 for the mixer, I own one with 2 cdj 800s and it's a decent home setup for money. The DXM09 is about 500-$600 and probably the best value mixer in that price bracket.

agreed. though the eq knobs get slippery after a while, and the cueing system needs to be louder.
but for the price it's probably the best choice.

depends.... if this is for home djing only you can get away with just a monitor. or even hook it up to your computer if you have a soundcard that is compatible to hook up with a mixer
but if you think of entertaining people at your house in the future, speakers setup do come into consideration

agreed. what is up with most trance DJs and their fascination with efx? esp. since most of them don't know how to use effects well?

HEAPS of differences. 100's don't have a beat counter, loops, no mp3 or folders and no tap cue and play (you can't press and hold cue to preview then tap play and release to play the track, if you get what I mean ha). 200's are heaps better imho. |
not to mention .1 pitch increments vs 200's .02 IIRC.
and the annoying jog wheel on both 100 and 200.
I love my 1000mk3s because of .02 pitch increments and wav display. but I wouldn't settle for anything less than 800s (mk2s preferably) personally

cdj's play mp3s now? fark lol |
yeah. takes a while to organize properly so that you don't take 5 mins looking for a song though.
though a lot of djs still stick to max 2 tunes on a cd for simplicity's sake
