2008 is going to be a tough year for the Yankees IMO. It's going to be interesting to see what the Yankees do in the offseason. Do you trade some of your young stars to get Santana or Cabrera? Should be fun...

that pettitte isn't about the money....if he wasn't about the money he would have stayed in houston.

and we don't trade for santana or cabrera. i don't agree that the season is going to be bad. we have two proven rookies (yes, as odd as that sounds, the rookies are proven), and we only lost AROD on offense. I think we should move for bonds (i hate him, but its a good baseball move)

bonds for wat dh?
yanks got
giambi,matsui,damon
they rotate them all as dh's once in a while
bonds is a waste
yanks gotta try and save money and get younger players not spend more on old players
thats whats wrong with yankee managment

NO...the problem was trading young talent on old players. the problem was never wasting money. I would have bonds bat in front of Damon, Giambi, and Matsui any day of the week.

Losing A-rod's bat is huge for the Yankees. Without him last year, they're barely a .500 ballclub.

I just think it's going to be a tough 2008 season if the Yankees have a rotation of Wang, Joba, Mussina, Huges and Kennedy.

Lowell's numbers are directly correlated with the dimensions of Fenway. He's built to hit in that park, which is why you see such a drop off when he bats on the road. Defensively, he's a perfect fit for any baseball team. Offensively, he's a perfect fit for the Sox. For that and his ability to lead in the clubhouse the Sox will resign him.

If not then there's an outside chance we make a run at A-Rod but, other than that, I don't see us making any huge offseason moves. Theo's unwilling to trade young arms for Santana and Bedard and I don't think we'll add another bat. Management will give Drew another year and people are confident Dice K will have a Beckett(esque) turnaround in '08.

I do think we'll trade Crisp for relief pitching or prospects before the season starts.

don't forget that eric duncan was at a time the top prospect in the yankees system, and one of the top prospects in baseball. He's still only 22. There was a noticeable drop off when he was moved from 3rd to 1st. Now, perhaps he can move back to third and move up into the bigs.

Santana for Melke, Hughes, and a prospect not named Joba.

I hope to god the twins don't accept that, or the yankees aren't serious.

santana is 28, hughes is 21. while hughes wasn't spectacular for most of the season, he was solid and remember he was pitching a no-hitter in his second game before his injury, and he pitched well under pressure in the playoffs. he has too much upside potential. we don't need to follow st louis and make a mulder/haren trade.

I always find it funny how fans overrate the prospects on their team. (I'm guilty of it too) I just don't understand all the fanfare surrounding Melky Cabrera. .273/.327/.391 is not good.

i agree....take melke. the only thing i like about him is his arm. i don't like giving away players who were ranked as the number 1 prospect in all of baseball (regardless of their first season). Santana didn't have a great first year himself. 86 innings, .302 BAA, 6.49 era.

Well, Santana was not that great in the minors. He's just one of those late bloomers.

WOW.........willis and cabrera to the tigers.

Detroit looks like the team to beat in the AL. That lineup looks SICK with Miguel Cabrera in it. Granderson, polanco, cabrera, ordonez, sheffield, Rodriguez, renteria, and inge. That's the best lineup in baseball now.

the rotation is pretty sick also, willis, bonderman, rogers, robertson, and verlander.
