i refuse to mix using monitors. when i get into the booth, the very first thing i do is turn the volume of the booth monitors all the way down.

the only way im positive nothing is off is monitoring in my headphones.

Iv learned to trust what i hear in the phones and not what i "think" is happening on the dance floor.

so many times people tell me stories about how they think they're on with beat matching only to find out it sounded terrible on the floor.

iv been mixing for years using only the headphones and not once had a situation where i thought something sounded good in the headphones and not on the dance floor, but before i started doing that, there were plenty of times where i thought everything was fine in the booth (using monitors) and it wasn't on the floor.

I just pop in my fav dj's latest essential mix mp3 and then pretend I'm doing all the work. Even to the point of lip synching pete tong's commentaries.

er.. the setup in my bedroom doesn't exactly change much on a daily basis and i can't recall an occasion where i've not been able to headphone mix with it for whatever reason

somehow the sound coming from the speakers is realy different from what u are listening in the headphones.
