well, you dont HAVE to vote. you just have to get your name checked off. you can stick the ballot paper in your tight little muff and nobody will care.
you should be forced to vote, it means there's no drive to get people to the ballots. it means you dont have a disproportional electorate where only the rich and the educated are heard.
compulsory voting adds to the democratic principle rather than detract from it.
