I dunno, maybe he was having an off night - but last time he played at Sonic I thought he was fucking awful. He was also hyped up being belief from a few friends of mine, so that might have had something to do with it as well. |
Well, he is an amazing producer and an amazing DJ. I don't think he played that well either, I do agree with you there. My friends and I thought he was really flat that night, and I think the next day he was playing a big party in New York, so he was saving his energy for that event.
He's really monotone in the booth tho. And you really, really, really have to be able to deal with all the gay men. But if you can overlook those two issues, you can enjoy him as much as I do...he ripped it up at the Gay Pride closing party...

I think that's bullshit. Supposing that it is more draining on you to play well versus playing mediocre, which is arguable in the first place. It's not like he's moving bricks around - to professional DJs, putting on a set should be pretty much second nature; and should not be excused anyway - there are other professions that require you to put in 100% every time. Mainly though, I think it's reflects badly on his character if he willfully didn't try to put on a good set because he was saving himself for New York. If he wanted to save his energy for New York, he shouldn't have booked the Toronto gig in the first place. There's no reason the people in Toronto should get less for their money than the people in New York when they paid to go see him. Leaves a bad impression on him if he's willing to disappoint his fans in order to get more moolah. Finally, it looks bad on you if you're making up "valid" excuses on his behalf - he's not a god, why do you feel you need to make up excuses for his poor performance?
/general rant, not directly aimed at you, as this is not the first time I've come across people excusing the DJs they paid good money for, for one reason or another.
