i personally don't like that much minimal, i mean i can listen to it, sure, but I think it's hard to make. I mean, you're working with minimal elements here.

Just check this song out... I mean with trance you have to think of 1 great riff and a few other boring ones that compliment them. Take that track for example... the guy has thought of tons of great riffs that can go great together... you can tell this because it doesn't get repetitive.

Come on guys... whats wrong with minimal? You just need to listen to more good stuff... I must say it would certainly seem that minimal songs seem to be either good or crap... theres no space filler (made by untalented noobs) unlike with trance etc. Every beats per minute is equally hard to produce... and every genre/level of minimal/randomness is equally hard to produce. I'm sure some crowds are easier to please then others though.

Also very interested in seeing how this "you produce produce minimal I make trance" thing turns out.

+1. Barry before you go bashing and calling people lazy for making minimal you should go and try to make a GOOD and DRIVING minimal track that can keep a listener's attention for a duration of 6 minutes minimum. its not as easy as you think. just because its not as jam packed with alot of huge sounds does not mean its any easier to make. Plus minimal is excellent chill music but also danceable.
