if you can say that, then I assume you don't stand for democracy...
the great thing about tobacco is that people have the information/know how bad it is for them, but the choice is still there for them: i quite enjoy a calming smoke every once in a while, or while wasted on pills (double dose of badness ) the best people can do for defense against pills is claim ignorance: i.e: "as far as i know, there are no long-term side-effects"
about the whole banning tobaco thing, i think it'd just be a big step backwards: the use of any form of drug should be run thru some sort of governed body (controlling contents etc (which cigarettes are)), and the people should be made aware of the side-effects, and then let to run wild
i think there would be far fewer OD's, and possibly even less use (even if it's more use, at least it's safer, and bodies would be in place to control consequences) if all drugs were legalized--
but that's just a dream
