Thank you for adding such a well written and throughly researched post,

SCREAMING male protesters told US presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton to "iron my shirt" at a rally in the all-important primary state of New Hampshire.

Senator Clinton, running to become the US's first female president, laughed off the protest suggesting a woman's place is doing laundry and not running the country.

"Ah, the remnants of sexism - alive and well," Senator Clinton said to applause, the Associated Press reported.

The two men were removed from the auditorium after raising a pair of signs that said, "Iron my shirt!" They also shouted the slogan.

"Can we turn the lights on? It's awfully dark," Senator Clinton said, signalling for police to come forward and take the men away.

The crowd burst into applause, and some began shouting, "Iron my shirt!" as the two were taken outside.

"As I think has been abundantly demonstrated, I am also running to break through the highest and hardest glass ceiling," she said.

Senator Clinton later joked about the incident during question time.

"If there's anyone left in the auditorium who wants to learn how to iron a shirt, I'll talk about that," she said.

Senator Clinton came second in Iowa's caucuses last week and faces a tough challenge for the Democratic primary vote in New Hampshire from Barack Obama, who leads her with just one day remaining.

with all the respect to american democracy, the sufraggettes movement began in France in 19th century.
But you have to agree, that simply getting rights is not the same as social representation, as u mentioned.

speaking of this country, i would say more af like from early 80.
before this could u think of female cop? or fireman (firewoman in this situation, i guess)? or math professor? or companys CEO? - NO WAY.

only nowadays female leader is becoming more common, but what about typically female staff, like raising kids?

they claim to protect u from such a discrimination at work, for ex, but is it really true?
i suppose, so far, it is still easier to get a prestigious position being male.

sure in Europe but women's suffrage in America was mostly an American phoenomenon.

youre speaking in generalities. have there ever been females in traditionaly male occupations or positions prior to 1980? sure. societal lags in institutions occur all the time. i'm not sure what your point is though? and what does it have to do with "how smart do girls have to be?"

yes.

not necessarily.

why does a woman choose one path or another?

all i'm saying is whatever path she does choose, there is little left in modern Western style governments for them to get behind women on.

Um, no...it has nothing to do with me.

I've just witnessed it plenty of times with talented women. My girlfriend's step-sister went to Wharton and works for one of the major investment banks in NYC (and does well). She's planning to quit soon after getting married. I just don't understand the point of working so hard if all that you're trying to do is get married and quit.

Oh, and I didn't say college, I said MBA, which is business school. Same comment applies to law and med school, though.
