I feel like forming a Buddhist Punk Rock band for randomness' sake

HOLY SHIT

you know about FIF omg hahaa sooo old i used to listen to that shit in middleschool and earlier went to like 3 different concerts omg hahahah!

You know that nazi music people with hair deficiency make to support their holy cause. I have the same opinion of christian rock (metal, ska...). And if ever there was a missed genre these are it. How can you rock about jesus and ffs metal is supposed to be a hardcore genre...jesus was not hardcore. It doesn't matter if you make the most hardcore sound imaginable, if the lyrics that accompany it are not equally hardcore you fail.

Sounds like a slippery slope to me.

i agree

christianity has a pretty good track record of inspiring and funding some pretty legendary works of art, so why the hell does christian rock suck so badly?

Because anything that doesn't have synths isn't really music in the first place - we all know that.

I think it lies in what RJT said, but flipped around. Namely, some people think that content is unimportant as long as the talent is there. But the problem with Christian rock is that many of the people who make and fund it seem to be looking primarily for certain content (namely, a "Biblical" outlook and message) rather than talent. As long as the right messages are there, who cares if it's bland?

The church of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, on the other hand, took talent and musical training quite seriously. It wasn't enough simply to have your "heart in the right place," so to speak.

i gotta agree with sandleaper on this one.

the reason i dislike most christian rock is because they are just copying their style/music from 'worldly music' or plain rock to you folks.

so if the inspiration is god/christianity, i really doubt, really really doubt that reading the bible inspired them to hit the overdrive and scream 'jesus' (incoherently at that) every now and then. no, they heard it on the radio and thought, 'gee i can do that, and switch Baby with Jesus.'

this is even more blatant in spanish Christian Music, where they will steal the beat and melody from los bukis, los trigres del norte, or any other non-christian music and put christian lyrics to it.

Only thing that comes to mind is the south park episode where Cartman starts a christian band to make a lot of money

Pls tell me you were drunk when you wrote this dribble. Don't knock the Jebus dudes, they got their own thing going and aren't hurting your hair style.
