I would really consider myself more of an Audiophile than anything else. Producer? Maybe, although I still have a lot of learning to do. Musician? Hell no, because I know very little about music theory and my 10 years playing percussion has not taught me much. Plus, as other percussionists may understand, the ability to read music isn't highly prized, when all you are doing is hitting things like a caveman.

Maybe I need to edit the subject line to read:

Are you a musician, producer, or Cro-magnum man?

hahahahaha
Seriously you dont have to know how to read notes to be a musician
Suit musicians know how to read notes as they went to a musical school
But the fact that you can read notes says nothing realy
There are loads of folks who go to a musical school but never make it

MUSIC is all about creatifity
Leonel Richie cant read 1 note of music
Yet he still made loads of huge hit records
Music is a universal language not realy a skillthat you can learn You might know how to read notes but cant fantasice your own
Then all that knowlidge is unusefull imho

You have to be a musician to be able to be a producer.
