i think Vespas are super classy and i would totally love to own one someday (if i didn't live in Wisconsin ). unfortunately it's hard to find them for reasonable prices because they are basically collector's items, and buying a new one will put you out $3-7k. i guess that's all fine if you can afford it, but personally i'd have a hard time justifying spending that kind of money on a scooter.

Honda and Yamaha also make their knock-off versions of the "Euro-style" scooter, which sell for less than $2k brand new.

the Piaggio Motor Group (Vespa, Aprilia, Piaggio) probably makes some of my favorite scooters. i don't care for any of their modern-looking models, but the ones that look classic and retro are just so cool. also the Stella from Genuine Scooter Company is another one of my favorites.

fucking dumb shit. do not buy one, or a motorbike. almost everyone i know who has owned one, has had a crash. 2 dead, 2 near-fatal (now with disabilities), 3 with broken bones, 1 with a few scratches and 2 yet to have a crash (but they only bought them in the last 1-2 years).

it doesnt matter how careful you are, you're going to get raped.

Agree.
My father lost a leg riding a motorcycle And his friend literally got his ass scraped off after sliding on his ass on the road after the crash

edit: Ps. This was in southern France. The traffic there is Ds.

i can't stand motorcycles, yet i think scooters are awesome. i think it probably has to do with the general mentality of motorcyclists vs moped-riders. two completely different worlds.

i crashed a motorino outside rome (was cruising the appian way) and chipped my front teeth pretty nicely (fixed now)

it's fun as hell, but you have to be really confident and used to it if you're going to ride in traffic like exists in rome

agree with above posters - you gonna get raped

haha it has nothing to do with the motorcycle or moped worlds. the difference is most sports bike riders are fucking idiots. blatant disregard for others on the road. they mostly have a "superman" mentality.

I used to own one. They are pretty dangerous to ride compared to other bikes because its not balanced as the engine is on one side of the bike.

ANd yeah, i have had a couple accidents with it. Then I bought a car.
