Oh please, you said my thoughts were "stupid" and any organization that would support such ideas was equally stupid. Um, in case you haven't figured it out, I support the NRA. So again, that makes me "stupid"???

You also referred to people who own guns as "rednecks" in another post in that thread, in addition to the "retard" statement. And given your VEHEMENT anti-gun attitude, it's obvious that you think EVERYONE who wants to own a gun is "stupid", a "red-neck" and a "retard". EOM

I thought you said you were sorry for the Trancer association implications?

Look, all I'm saying is that I can go either way if you want. I have a pretty thick skin. But you ARE throwing out insults first (just admit it) and then you cry "Innocent!" when called on it and actually blame me for doing it first.

I prefer more civil debates these days in the PDD at least (except when it comes to the "troofers", whom I think we can ALL agree are truly a bunch of fucktards, lol )...but in the COR of course, I expect nothing less than complete brainlessness. I just didn't expect it from YOU of all people, because I think that you're a better person than that. You don't need to go there.

But it's your choice.

no no no. that "stupid" was in reference to the hitler disarmament article, which i felt WAS stupid. indeed, i even asked whether you agreed with a document that stupid.

But you know I do support it. I posted it. So of course, it's the same as calling me "stupid".

coz i hate people and i dont trust them to treat firearms with the same seriousness and respect that i do.

i enjoy living in a society where assault rifles are a complete rarity, indeed i am unsure there's been an assault rifle homicide sine port arthur, thats almost 13 years.

i love the science and the look and the feel of guns, but in australia at least, they serve no useful purpose beyond the eradication of animals.

i like going to a club knowing nobody has a pistol.

i like the fact that the police have the monopoly on violence (i have a number of copper friends).

i like the fact that no matter how angry someone is in our society their chances of going to the mall all "falling down" style is extremely remote.

i like the fact that if someone breaks into a house there's little chance they'll be able to run off with someone's firearm to use for no good.

etc etc etc.

if i lived in the US fuck yeah id be packing, but i enjoy living in a society where i feel i dont have to

Don't you think that is a bit of a megalomaniac, presumptuous belief, that only you are qualified to touch a gun?

I posted those articles (and then links to them) because I wanted you to see that there ARE other news sources about guns that are POSITIVE (lives saved by having a firearm) versus the sensationalized accounts the T.V. News (where most people sadly get there homogenized news in this country) and the larger print media outlets like to run stories on. No one wants to hear about a rapist being chased off by a gun, really. It supports the idea of even owning a gun, and that runs contrary to the anti-gun bias on the part of these particular media outlets. But a mall shooting? Now THAT is what they want to talk about!

So it's HIGHLY selective coverage like that which gives people inside (and outside) this country the impression that America is awash in pointless gun violence...or that inside every white business owner or manager lurks a KKK member just itching to "keep the black man down".

Do you know that of all the guns in this country, less than 1/10th of 1% are used illegally? And of those, the vast majority are stolen. There have even been studies that indicate guns are used up to 2.5 million times per year in this country legally to save lives and property.

See, you don't live here and you cant truly EVER get a picture of what a country is like simply by reading their newspapers and books. You have to experience and see it for yourself before you can say FOR SURE what YOU know to be fact, versus what you are "TOLD" by the media is fact. We have freedom of the press, but that doesn't equal "responsibility of the press".

The media in this country...whether out of ignorance, or out of the fact that the vast majority are composed of Democrats (a study was done not long ago that showed this to be a fact)...have an anti-gun bias and a pro-affirmative action stance. Both are favorite topics of the left to coddle and champion. So naturally, you're going to get their bent on the stories that relate to these topics. It's no great conspiracy, other than it's one of selective ignorance. If you're a Liberal reporter and you think that you know all there is to know about "the poor black people" in this country, or "those gun nuts", then when you go to report on these stories, whether you do it consciously or not, you're going to selectively "see" the facts that conform to what YOU believe is "the truth".

There's an old saying; "Don't believe everything you read". It's something only a person like Trancer would do. So please don't be like Trancer, ok?
