?

I think it's a justified one.

I mean, it could be the guy's personal preference that he does not like minimal or tech house or electro house, and that's fine, that doesn't make what he listens to any harder to create though.

And it isn't the same as him saying "this tune sucks" and me saying "well if it sucks so much lets see you do better". It's him saying that an entire form of music is super easy to make and takes no skill, therefore I'd like to see him prove to me that even HE, someone who has no love for minimal, can produce a chart topping mnml-bomb (firecracker LOLOLOLOLOL-CATS) that can make him rich.

Another thing is that it isn't exactly the height of production difficulty to make a trance track and get signed: the proof appears on digital download sites daily.

As with any genre, it's hard to make good tracks, and most music that gets released, at any time and in any genre, isn't really that good.

Ya exactly, which is why finding tunes is still a challenge for DJs nowadays, just in a different way.

Instead of hitting the pavement looking for the best piece of wax out there, you have to sift through endless piles of shit on Beatport/Juno/Phonica/Trackitdown/DjDownloads (etc), to get to the good stuff.

To be fair, in this case it's probably relevant.

Because if I asked him to produce a better track than one he claimed sucked, then how would I compare the two? It's subjective.

What isn't subjective is saying that an entire genre of EDM is easier to make than another.

I'd say it's the same thing, the spectrum is just broader. I'm not agreeing with him either, I just think this is all a bit pointless.

Yeah, I'm one to talk...
