What do you mean you are born with rights? You aren't born with anything but instincts. Your environment and the way your brain reacts to the environment is what constantly affects your opinions. |
no, you are born with natural rights, inherent and immutable. sure, laws are needed to protect those rights, but they arent "given" to you, you already have them by virtue of being human.

Correct, but what do you mean by "not all ideas are equal"? |
um, pretty much exactly how it sounds. not all ideas are equal! for instance, the idea that women shouldn't be allowed to vote is not equal with the idea that they should. as it stands, not all cultures are equal. the western liberal democracy is currently the pinnacle of human social, economic and political advancement. to say that current, less developed cultures are just as "good" the liberal democracy just doesn't stand up to investigation.

There are always individual rights and wrongs (opinions like I said above), and most of the time the majority opinion is what the "rights and wrongs" of the culture are. |
only if you believe rights and wrongs come from culture, when as far back as good ol john locke many people believe in natural and inherent "rights" and "wrongs".
