You'd need a pretty large shift to bring trance(as it was) back. Most producers that chug out the mainstream crap these days will continue to do so since it nets them exposure and cash. Plus, people who know shit-all about good dance music eat that pop crap up like candy.

I'd love to see it happen someday though. I still love the older style stuff, but I can't even listen to the recent stuff.

In the liner notes of an old MOS trance cd I have it says something like 'trance is the sound of the millennium, and while critics say it won't last, trance shows no signs of slowing down' hahaha

if you look hard enough there are still some old schoolers around atlanta that throw parties aimed at "back in the days" type vibes. every few months or so i hear something about a party like that... after it happened

Yeah this is the other thing I don't get, so many people bang on about 'back in the day', how music was better then than it is now etc....enough people like classic trance, so why is there a lack of tunes? Maybe some of these people should get off their arses and learn to produce!

I meant 95-99 progressive trance, I suppose classic trance is the earlier hypnotic stuff, technically

Maybe we should at least try to produce some classic-trance as well? Early-to-mid-90s trance and prog-house FTW.

That's one kind of music I want to make, stuff in the general style of classic trance and prog-house but with modern mixing and mastering quality. I still have lots of work to do, but I'm plugging away at it...

I got a "Retro-mania-for-classic-EDM" recently and i've been listening to classic trance and prog-house tracks in youtube all the time! Man some of them are beautifull beyond words! Here are some:

S.P.Q.R. - "Unlimited Dreams" (1993)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DVB...feature=related

(prog-house of stunning beauty...)

Gipsy- "I Trance You" (1992)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn_-FohaB2o

(lush prog-house!)

Sublime- "Sublime" (23rd Precinct, 1991)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_PS2iZfc78

(i can't believe that this progger was produced in 1991!Nocturnal trancey riffs, sci-fi mysterious pads and funky-as-hell beats make a sublime track)

Brainchild- "Symmetry" (c mix) (1994)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYn3...feature=related

(no comments...i'm crying tears of laughter while i'm listening lol)

The Volunteers- "Sun-Down" (Eye-Q, 1992)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrcH...feature=related

(classic trancer. Perfect for inducing mystical experiences lol)

Steve Baltes - "Naked Brunch" (1994)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzhQs78vROY

(crazy hard trancer with sweet arpeggios and cosmic synth-choruses yeesssss!)

Resistance D- "Dark-Side" (1994)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3Hcb_h5lX0

(holy shit, you tube is full with resistance d videos!!! Now this is what i call trance, this IS Trance with a capital T. relentless four-to-the-flour kick backed by ominous timpani(!) and terminator-like post-apocalyptic chords all (dish)armonically mixed, before an ecstatic arpeggio joins towards the end.)

This is inevitably going to happen to everything new (and it is to a certain extent already happening to dubstep as well). It's good there are people who are constantly questioning the way the music/scene is heading. Those are the ones who push things forward.
