sometimes if I have a track that I really want to play and it is drastically out of key I will drop it into ableton and correct the intro section to match it into key, that is if I want to play it after or before a track that is impossible to key math it.

Awesome thread!!

I didn't know such terminology before, but I guess it doesn't matter which one you use as long as you trust your ears. Besides, what matters the most for me is your song selections (assuming your DJ-ing skill is already O-okay), and how you can bring the crowd with you. At the end, you can't satisfy everybody, but at least you'll have to try

But that's just my opinion though... I'm still learning myself hehehe, DJ-ing is fffuuuunnnnn

i play alot of psychedelic progresive and trance, and mixing in key is a MUST. This doesnt hold true to all genres, and of course there are tracks that can be mixed togther and sound good that are not in key.

I use they "mixed in key" program if that is what the thread was asking, not sure what is meant by mixed on cue...but i would assume you would most always mix on cue.

you can most def mix out of key, but it takes alot of practice to get the tracks down that sound good out of key, and having all your tracks keyed out is good for when you are just winging it and need another track in the same key.
